Aproved for all Ages
2008/2009
A three print installation based on the artist's initial encounter with the mountain glacier landscape of Sognefjorde in Norway. This allegedly pristine, lunar like landscape of rock, ice and mist, had already been invaded by a legion of electricity pylons and was now turning into a Technicolor canvas village in preparation for a mountain film festival. Not at all as previously advertised. An ongoing discussion about colonisation and space travel began. The humour of the graphics, in a visualisation of a battle between spacemen, construction and rabbits, refers to divergent eastern and western philosophies about human relationships with nature, alien species, contamination, space waste and the race for helium 3.
The work features fluorescent ink and controlled lighting and was made with the support of the Bauhuas in Germany and iRes – Research in Network Art, UK, 2008 - 2009.
