Sue Corke and Hagen Betzwieser met by chance in 2008 at a bus stop in Norway.
A conversation that started out then about colonising the moon at a glacier roadside continues in London today with their first solo show at EB&Flow.

At the end of his six-month Clara-und-Eduard-Rosenthal residency at the Villa Rosenthal in Jena, Germany, Hagen Betzwieser shows recent works in cooperation with Sue Corke. Observations of local phenomena, further experiments in zero gravity, cosmic ice cream, continual space maintenance and a preview of the upcoming summer show in London at EB&Flow.

REPUBLIC OF THE MOON / ENTER AT OWN RISK runs until February 26. Astronaut maintenance performances are at the weekend, Saturday and Sunday between 2pm to 6pm. An initial documentary is now online and a full video documentary will follow soon.

KOSMICA 31.1.2012. This special edition of Kosmica comes to Liverpool as part of the Republic of the Moon exhibition, and is curated by us with Nahum Mantra. The all-female line-up will include presentations by Hilde de Bruijn of the Moon Life Foundation, Dr. Iya Whiteley, Space Psychologist (IACE Ltd, Director; UCL Centre for Space Medicine Consultant), Bee Thakore of the Planetary Society and Ulrike Kubatta ('She Should Have Gone To The Moon')

In Southern Germany, on a sunny day at the spa in the park, the artists observed:
„A retirement home, where everybody arrived just a little bit early“... Elsewhere in the  park, polar bears are disappointed at feeding time with organic cucumbers, and the peace camp settles in for another day protesting the new train station development. Strange times indeed as conservative Stuttgart flexes long forgotten political muscles and wonders how much longer the good life can continue.

and was launched there as part of an event on olfactory art in September 2010.

Print no.3, "Good Luck with That", is done at EP in Edinburgh.

The third print is taking shape. Over four days in Amsterdam, in a hot and airless studio the designs and stencils are made. 'Good Luck with That' will conclude the narrative, and makes playful reference to art as contract, printed paper as the medium of business transaction.

During the process of checking registration each image from the series is layed over the others, simultaneously revealing and disguising the sequence. Time and space dissolve, but in the meantime a visit is also made to Amsterdams Grafisch Atelier to check out the press.
